PVC film, melamine, or veneer — which fits the part
Start with the part and the line you already run. Routed profiles, curves, and wrapped edges are why factories specify decorative film. A flat panel with no routing usually stays on melamine-faced board. A natural wood face is a veneer job.

On kitchen and furniture fronts with routed detail, and on interior door faces that go through a vacuum or membrane press.
When another surface is the simpler run
- Large flat panels with no routing, where a melamine-faced board is simpler to run
- Joinery that requires a natural wood surface, not a printed grain
